2024 Volkswagen Tayron in-depth Walkaround The 2024 Volkswagen Tayron is a mid-size SUV, boasting impressive dimensions of 4,735 mm in length, 1,859 mm in width, and 1,682 mm in height. Under the hood, it offers two engine options: a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-liter turbo model paired with a 48V plug-in hybrid setup. Power is delivered through a 7-speed AMT transmission, generating 220 hp (162 kW) at 6,700 rpm and 350 Nm of torque at 4,300 rpm. The Tayron can reach a top speed of 200 km/h, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.8 seconds. Fuel consumption is rated at 7.8 liters per 100 km, supported by a 63-liter fuel tank. The vehicle has a curb weight of 1,786 kg and features independent suspension, with MacPherson struts at the front and a four-link design at the rear. The Tayron is packed with advanced technology, including three digital screens—a digital instrument cluster, a main touchscreen infotainment unit, and a head-up display. Additional features include wireless charging, 10-point massage seats, a 360-degree camera, dual-zone climate control, and an ADAS suite. The Tayron, which shares similarities with the Tiguan but offers a larger size and longer wheelbase, was unveiled globally with plans for production in China, Germany, Mexico, and India. It is expected to be launched in India in 2025.
