I've been fortunate enough to make a number short films in the last few years that were put together with no budgets, immense passion, determination, and most importantly, the support from friends and family. But I'm ready to take the next step in my career and compensate the artists I'm working with. THE STORY ——————— The Caligo Cuckoo is a Twilight Zone inspired cautionary tale about a man who wishes he was in someone else's shoes... literally. After drunkenly stumbling into an empty bar on a stormy night, Rick tries to ignore his life's problems. A mysterious man appears from the shadows to offer Rick a better life and all he has to do is win a game of pool... if only it were that simple. YOUR SUPPORT ————————— My main priority is quality and because of that I want to be able to pay people for what they're worth and how much time they graciously share with me for this project. We're looking to raise $12,000 which will cover mostly everything in pre-production and production. Below is a list of all the things that we'll need in order to get this project filmed: • Location Rental & Insurance Filming at a local LA bar for 2 days Production insurance • Equipment Rentals Arri Alexa Camera & Anamorphic Lenses Aputure Lights C-Stands, Chairs, Extension Cords, Etc. • Cast & Crew • Wardrobe & Props • Hair & Makeup • Catering & Crafty I'm at a point in my career where doing a no-budget project just doesn't feel right anymore. I'm working with incredibly talented artists and they were all happy and willing to volunteer their time, but I want to be able to fairly compensate them and take a leap of faith toward the next chapter of my career. We set up this campaign to have a "flexible goal" so that we're able to keep whatever we make, even if we don't hit our goal. There is a game plan to produce this film with a smaller budget but the quality would definitely suffer. I want this project to highlight the kind of quality product I'm able to organize and produce with a proper budget so I can use the experience when producing and directing a feature film in the future. This film has already been a few years in the making and had a little bit of a tumultuous start. It was originally slated to be filmed in 2020 but was postponed due to the global pandemic.​ As the US continued to struggle with COVID-19, we even considered turning this film into a 3D animated short using cutting edge virtual production technology but ultimately decided against it. I'm excited that we're back in business to film this as a live-action short film in a real bar located in LA.
