Welcome to Colour and the city! In this video, I review the Faber-Castell Black Edition 100 pencil set, and compare it to Prismacolor Premier pencils. Since I live in Europe, Prismacolors are rather expensive here, at least compared to the US, so I have been looking for a more affordable alternative that still has the same creaminess and softness of Prismas. While there are differences between them, of course, I think I found one! The Faber-Castell Black Edition pencils. At the time of writing, 15 March 2024, a set of 100 Black Edition pencils can be bought for 40,95 euro on the Dutch e-tailer Bol.com (https://www.bol.com/nl/nl/p/faber-cas.... A set of Prismacolor Premier 36 pencils costs 57,95 euro, on the same website (https://www.bol.com/nl/nl/p/prismacol.... These prices may vary, but this is what the situation is at the moment. This makes the FC Black Edition pencils much more affordable. So I got them and decided to give them a try. In this video, I review the following elements: - The packaging. - The pencils themselves. - Their colour range. - Sharpening. - Paper test on Johanna Basford, Mythographic, Rita German, Amazon and Melpomeni Chatzipanagiotou paper. - Blending. If you are looking to add some soft core pencils to your collection that don’t break the bank, hope this video helps with your decision! Of course, what I share in this video are my thoughts, just one perspective, and with the prices from a particular geography.
