Join us on this luscious episode as we take you through the bustling lanes of Old Delhi, where our love for mangoes and poetry come together in a delightful celebration of the season's last golden fruits. As we explore the city’s rich culinary heritage, we'll indulge in some of the most iconic mango treats that Old Delhi has to offer, all while sharing the timeless stories of Mirza Ghalib, Delhi's beloved poet, who cherished mangoes as much as he did his beloved city. Here are the places we visited. Bishan Swaroop Chaat: We kick off our mango adventure at Bishan Swaroop Chaat with their irresistible Aam Chaat. This local gem serves up a tangy and refreshing mix of ripe mangoes, spices, and chutneys that perfectly balance sweet and spicy flavors. It’s a must-try for anyone who loves the vibrant tastes of Old Delhi. Giani Di Hatti: Next, we cool off with a creamy Mango Shake at Giani Di Hatti. Known for its thick and rich shakes, this spot blends fresh mangoes into a drink that’s pure summer in a glass. It’s the perfect way to beat the heat as we continue our journey. Gian Chand Giani Dry Fruits: At Gian Chand Giani Dry Fruits, we can’t resist their traditional Aam Papad. This sun-dried mango delicacy, with its chewy texture and sweet-tart flavor, takes us back to childhood memories and simpler times. It’s a nostalgic treat that never goes out of style. Shri Shyam Trading Company: We also stopped by Shri Shyam Trading Company to sample their version of Aam Papad. With its perfect balance of sweetness and tang, this treat is another favorite among mango lovers and a great way to enjoy the natural flavors of the fruit. Amritsari Lassi Wala: Our journey wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Amritsari Lassi Wala for a refreshing Mango Lassi. The creamy yogurt and sweet mango blend into a drink that’s both satisfying and cooling, giving us a much-needed break from the summer heat. Hira Lal Chaat Corner: At Hira Lal Chaat Corner, we discover the unique Mango Kuliya Chaat. Freshly scooped-out mangoes are filled with a tangy mix of spices, pomegranate seeds, and chutneys, creating a snack that’s as visually stunning as it is delicious. Jain Coffee House: For something truly different, we head to Jain Coffee House to try their Mango Sandwich. Fresh, juicy mango slices layered between soft bread offer a surprising yet delightful combination of flavors that’s both sweet and savory. Kallan Sweets: At Kallan Sweets, we savor the Mango Bite, a small yet powerful treat that packs the essence of ripe mangoes into a bite-sized delight. It’s perfect for those quick cravings as we explore the city. Cool Point Shahi Tukda: We indulge in the royal flavors of Shahi Tukda at Cool Point, where this rich bread pudding is topped with cool, creamy mango ice cream. The contrast of warm and cold, sweet and rich, makes this a truly divine experience. Kuremal Mahavir Prasad Kulfi Wale: We end our mango journey on a high note at Kuremal Mahavir Prasad Kulfi Wale with their famous Mango Stuffed Kulfi. Imagine a whole mango, hollowed out and filled with rich kulfi, then frozen to perfection—it’s a dessert that’s as refreshing as it is unforgettable. As we savor these mango treats, we immersed ourselves in the stories of Mirza Ghalib, whose love for mangoes was as legendary as his poetry.
