It borrows multiple design cues from the Harrier, such as the split headlight design and also offers body cladding and skid plates that uplift its SUV appeal. In addition to that, the Punch offers 187mm of ground clearance, which is more than the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Citroen C3. The Punch also offers a boot space of 319 litres and respectable fuel efficiency as well. Long List Of Features The Tata Punch comes with a long list of must-have and feel-good features. These features include an LCD instrument cluster with an analog speedometer, projector headlamps, keyless entry, auto AC, cruise control, cooled glove box, automatic headlights, electric sunroof, tyre pressure monitoring system, individual front seat armrests, and rain-sensing wipers. 5-Star Global NCAP Rating The Tata Punch is currently the only car in its segment to be tested by the Global NCAP. As per the earlier testing protocol, the Punch was awarded more points than the Tata Nexon, Altroz and even the Mahindra XUV300. It scored 5 stars in adult occupant safety and 4 stars in child occupant safety. 90-Degree Opening Doors For Easy Ingress/Egress As the Punch shares its platform with the Altroz, it also benefits from 90-degree wide opening front and rear doors. The wide opening doors aid in easy ingress and egress. CNG Option With No Compromise On Boot Space Since the Tata Punch makes use of Tata’s innovative twin CNG-cylinder technology, it offers 210L boot space with the CNG powertrain. It not only offers the class-leading boot space among its CNG rivals but also a lot more practical storage space to store larger items. Creative Variant Option Without Sunroof Sunroof is a very sought after feature but it isn’t useful in practical scenarios. Hence, a good set of buyers tend to avoid this feature and the Punch lets you select the top-end Creative variant without the sunroof. Enjoyable Harman 6-speaker ICE. One of the better systems in this segment Punch Disadvantanges No Turbo Petrol, Diesel Or CNG Option Tata offer the Punch with a 1.2L normal petrol engine borrowed from the Altroz, Tiago and Tigor. Currently, the Punch lacks a turbo petrol engine. However, it is likely to arrive soon. A diesel engine, on the other hand, is unlikely to come with the Punch. slow AMT gearbox when competitors offer you smoother CVTs and torque converters 3-cylinder petrol cannot match the competition’s 4-cylinders in refinement & NVH Tata's after-sales service quality is a hit or miss. Remains a gamble One of the things that we felt about the Tata Punch is that it lacks steering response. At city speeds, the steering feels light which is good but at highway speeds, it does not gives the driver the confidence that they might need. The same thing happens at sharper turns too. Top-Spec AMT Breaches Rs. 10 Lakh Bracket The top-spec Creative AMT variant with the flagship pack breaches the Rs. 10 lakh price bracket, which could result in higher tax impositions in some states of the country. The arch rival of the Punch — the Hyundai Exter tops at Rs. 10 lakh ex-showroom, however, its prices are introductory. Missing Features While the Punch is fairly loaded for its segment, it lacks some valuable features such as 60-40 split-folding rear seats, rear AC vents, cup holders in rear armrest, padded door armrests, height-adjustable front seatbelts. Recently, Tata introduced new features like TPMS and front armrest which were earlier missing in the Punch. Overpriced Mid Variants The mid-variants of the Punch, which offer a good mix of must-have and feel-good features, are overpriced by our understanding. Furthermore, the Punch also doesn’t offer any true value for money variant, which we can recommend to any kind of customer eyes closed. Altroz Offers More Features The Altroz XZ, at a similar price point, offers more features like rear AC vents, ambient lighting, rear fog lamp, padded door armrests and height-adjustable seatbelts. In addition to that, the Altroz also offers more engine options like turbo petrol and turbo diesel. Acceptable But Not Stellar Ground Clearance The Tata Punch comes with an acceptable 187mm of ground clearance, but it's below the Nissan Magnite’s ground clearance of 205mm. If we compare the Punch with other Tata SUVs, even the Nexon EV Max offers 205mm ground clearance.
