ASIA MINOR PROJECT: TECTONIC MOVEMENT MONITORING WITH ADVANCED GNSS NETWORK TECHNOLOGY. THE TEXTANT®

BASTIAN KIMMEL Texplor GmbH, CTO Texplor Geontech's commitment to disaster response in the Asia Minor region is embodied in the Asia Minor GNSS Network Project. This initiative aims to deploy a state-of-the-art GNSS network across affected countries, focusing on daily monitoring of crustal plate movements to develop an effective early warning system for earthquakes. The project plans to involve the installation of 6-7 TEXtant® GNSS systems, which are designed to provide millimeter-level accuracy in monitoring tectonic movements. These systems automatically generate daily position, direction, and velocity measurements, setting a new standard in precision and reliability. Data from the TEXtant® systems is automatically processed and transferred directly to a cloud database. This minimizes data loss and negates the need for on-site data processing, making it a streamlined and efficient solution. Validated for accuracy by international standards, the TEXtant® GNSS network is designed to operate autonomously, without the need for a base station. This makes it ideal for deployment in the remote and seismically active regions of Asia Minor. Moreover, the systems are solar-powered, ensuring consistent operation even in areas with limited access to electricity. With its focus on earthquake-prone regions such as Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Jordan, the Asia Minor Project is poised to make a significant impact on disaster prevention and preparedness, safeguarding communities and infrastructure from the devastating effects of earthquakes. The Asia Minor Project exemplifies cost-effective, cutting-edge technology, making it a compelling solution for regions worldwide that require precise and reliable earthquake monitoring and early warning systems.
