Hiking the Cumbria Way - Day 2 - ending with a SUMMIT Wild Camp!

This is day two of walking the Cumbria Way 2024. It was a long solo backpacking day with a cracking wild camping spot on top of the Wainwright 'Great Calva' at 690m in the north of the Lake District National Park. I left Bays Brown Campsite at 9:30am and started thru hiking towards Mickleden past the Langdales Pikes. Towards the bottom at Mickleden is the start of Stake Pass towards Rosthwaite Fell. This is a really nice ascent hiking alongside Stake Gill on the Cumbrian Way. Follow my Insta for daily updates   / backpacking_uk   After the summit (478m) I made my way towards Derwentwater stopping at Flock-Inn Tea Room, Rosthwaite for some lunch. I stopped again at Keswick to watch England play Denmark before heading up to the Northern Fells. I decided to go slightly off piste and summit camped on Great Calve (690m) a short distance from Skiddaw House. A tough end to a long day, but it was well worth it for the epic views of the Northern Fells and watching the sun set.
