It is mostly soluble fiber that feeds the healthy bacteria in the gut. It can reduce constipation and other digestive issues. The soluble fiber also makes you feel full longer, so rye bread is incredibly filling. The fiber in rye bread can also help control blood sugar levels. Rye can also reduce inflammation and reduce the risk of heart disease, which is the #1 cause of death worldwide. It can help lower cholesterol levels. A downside to rye bread can be that it can cause bloating because of the fiber and gluten to sensitive people.
