Thiruvananthapuram Airport To Remain Closed From 4pm to 9pm For Alpassi Arattu Procession | Kerala

In fact the airport closes ops twice. First during March-April for the Painkuni festival of the temple and second is during October month for the Arattu procession, when Lord Vishnu is carried from the temple on a palanquin to Shanghumugham beach, located right beside the airport for the ritual bath. This procession was allowed to pass through the runway since this was the route before the airport was built in 1932. In the Arattu mandapam, which is close to the runway is where the Lord Vishnu is kept for a rest for brief periods before the diety is taken to the beach for the holy dip. The deity is accompanied by the members of the Travancore royal family and staff of Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple escorted by elephants, police band and cops. The procession which enters the airport by 5.30 returns after the holy dip by 8.30 through the same route. Every year, the airport announces the halting of operations days ago so that passengers are not inconvenienced. #viral #viralvideo #youtube #youtubevideo #latest #news #latestnews #kerala #thiruvananthapuram #trivandrumairport #trivandrumnews #sosouth #video #videos #malayalam #keralanews #youtubechannel #padmanabhaswamytemple #arattu #procession Follow us on: Facebook:   / sosouthofficial   X:   / sosouthofficial   Instagram:   / sosouthofficial   About the Channel SoSouth is the latest offering from the India Today Group, one of India's largest media organisations.
