InnerSource and APIs - George Mitry (Discover Financial Services) and Daniel Izquierdo (Bitergia) This talk will serve as open discussion for the community of the InnerSource Commons to discuss on how to effectively bring together APIs as a way to produce software and have clear communication channels across teams, all with the goal of allowing high API reuse and high autonomy for all teams. This is the sweet spot where the authors see that both worlds collide and can make the most of both practices. The authors will open a conversation on what are the benefits of both practices and how to make them work together. Real life use cases will be brought to the audience as well as part of the discussion. Bios: George Mitry George co-founded the Discover API program and is responsible for the API Center for Enablement. A passionate champion of APIs, he has built four teams of engineers to institute the API product family of internal APIs, external APIs, the infrastructure API platform, and API support. Daniel Izquierdo Daniel Izquierdo Cortázar is a researcher and one of the founders of Bitergia, a company that provides software analytics for open and InnerSource ecosystems. Currently holding the position of Chief Executive Officer, he is focused on the quality of the data, research of new metrics, analysis and studies of interest for Bitergia customers via data mining and processing. Izquierdo Cortázar earned a PhD in free software engineering from the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid in 2012 focused on the analysis of buggy developers activity patterns in the Mozilla community. He is in an active contributor and board member of CHAOSS (Community Health Analytics for Open Source Software). He is an active member and President at the InnerSource Commons Foundation.
