Episode 3 in this new series of quick watercolour birds. Don't forget to check out the intro video for a full breakdown of my simple materials! In this video I paint one of my all time favourite, albeit slightly controversial birds, the magpie! Characterful, cheeky and great painting subject, this was really fun to do. This was painted using Pthalo Blue, Pyrole Red (you could happily replace this with an warm red e.g. cadmium, permanent, vermillion etc) and Turqouise Blue by Holbein. I mention a yellow but never used it. It was painted on Winsor & Newton Professional Watercolour paper (gummed block) with a size 14 & size 8 synthetic round brush.
