Velux is famous for producing highly technical skylights (with looks and function to match). However, the traditional Velux skylights presented a multitude of challenges for the skylight installers. And has meant that if anyone has a Velux skylight installed, there is over 50% chance that it will leak. The emergence of low pitched roofs in Australia meant the necessity of pitch adaptor flashings to enable Velux skylights to be installed over the minimum 15 degree pitch requirement. It looks like Velux has responded to market requirements by releasing the 'FCM' skylight - which can be installed on roofs from 1 degree upwards to 60 degrees (without the need for pitch adaptors). If you just want a simple (non opening) skylight - then the FCM is the most versatile skylight for you. And if you want a FCM that opens - it is called the VCM. Same concept as the FCM - but it can also be manually opened.
