For today's unboxing review we bring you the 2017 Dodge Journey, a crossover that's literally a dinosaur within the industry. How come? Because it's been on the market since 2009 and it hasn't been completely redesigned, rather only facelifted. But those updates have been hugely important, because the original Journey was a letdown. Its interior plastics were cheaper than those found on Tonka toys, and the overall design, inside and out, wasn't very attractive. While there's not a whole lot that can be done about its exterior, the interior today is world's better. We especially liked our sampler's optional 8.4-inch infotainment screen and an abundance of soft touch materials throughout. Powered by the optional (which we highly recommend) 3.6-liter V6 with 283 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, power is sent to the front wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is available on every trim level, a major plus for those living in snow. Fuel economy? By today's standards it's not very good, coming in at 17/25 mpg city/highway. Aside from the base model, all Journeys come equipped with three rows of seats, something not available on, say, the Ford Edge. Dodge likes to say the Journey is the most affordable three-row V6 AWD crossover on the market, and we were surprised by how much we liked it. Enjoy the review!
