In this video we will explore- How to prevent Osteoporosis? Calcium deficiency is quite wide-spread- this video will help you understand the importance of calcium, what foods to eat and avoid for calcium deficiency & here, we also explore various sources of calcium other than milk and dairy products. Non-dairy Calcium-rich Foods 1. Leafy Greens- Spinach (palak), Coriander (dhaniya), Kale, etc. Cook them a little for maximum calcium absorbption. 2. Sesame seeds, ajwain, cumin seeds, etc. 3. Almonds 4. Ragi (finger millet) 5. Dried leaves powder- moringa powder, dried mint powder, dried parsley, etc. 5. Dried fish 6. Bone broth Foods to avoid: 1. high-concentrated sugar and salt (sodium) foods 2. excess coffee 3. alcohol and tobacco 4. excessive consumption of high proteins foods without balancing with veggies, fruits, etc. Tahini Recipe: 1/3 cup toasted sesame seeds (til, white) 2.5 tbsp extra virgin olive oil 1/4 cup chickpeas (use the ones that come in a can) 1/2 cup chickpea water (from the can) 1/2 tsp honey (if you are a vegan, skip it) 2 pinches freshly ground black pepper (optional) 1/2 tsp dried parsley (optional) 1/2 tsp lemon juice / white vinegar Method: 1. Toast sesame seeds till light brown. Let them cool 2. Add toasted sesame seeds, chickpeas along with its water, olive oil, honey and salt to a mixer/blender and blend till you get a nice smooth creamy dip. 3. Empty in a bowl. Add lemon juice and mix well. Top with some freshly ground black pepper and dried parsley. Serve with falafel, sourdough toasts, sandwiches, pita bread and much more. Note: Chickpea water helps get a paste like consistency and you can avoid adding too much olive oil. They honey helps set off a slight bitterness that usually accompanies Tahini.
