In 1971 Will, George, Jimmy, Joe & Wilcil introduced viewers to their homeland and locations like Dunluce Castle, the Giant’s Causeway and the Glens of Antrim before ending at Ireland’s oldest thatch-roofed pub for a singalong with their guests Carmel Quinn, Tommy Makem, John Allan Cameron and Jimmy Kennedy. From CBC Ottawa Research: The Irish Rovers in Ireland Special had a bigger audience than all other CBC produced Variety Specials during 71-72 season except for Anne Murray Specials.
