DIY Space Cooler! "Peltier" AC Air Cooler - 100w/200w 12v (12715 peltier module) - no ice needed!

DIY "Personal Space" Air Cooler! 12v Air Cooler powered with peltier modules. easy to make! good for localized space cooling (200w of cooling power). up to 20F temp drop! it's like a desktop fan that blows cold air! can be used on-grid or off-grid (with 12v solar panels or 12v batteries). DETAILS: ABOUT THE PELTIERS: I chose to use two 12715 peltier modules (chips). The 12715 is a 15amp chip and is one of the stronger cooling chips. Note that their 15amp rating is just at startup. it draws 8amps to 11amps during its normal operation (after startup) and has an average watt draw of 100-110w. The 12706 peltier chip (which is more common) can be used in place of the 12715 (if desired). it's a 6amp chip so it's not as powerful but works well too. its average watt draw is 60w. THE LARGE HEATSINK: The large heatsink that i used is 150mm long but an even longer one (a 200mm or 300mm one) may get you even more cooling. Room/Space Cooling: note that this unit is a "personal space" air cooler (not a whole room air cooler). The cold air is blown forward (where it's felt) and the heated air is blown to the sides (where it's not immediately felt). *so unless you vent the hot air out of the room the two will eventually 'mix' and cancel each other out. *Thermal Transfer tapes/glues: Thermal transfer tapes or glues can be used on the peltiers (for permanency) but they're not necessary. that's because peltiers and heatsinks are both made to be 'ultra smooth and flat' so both items lay completely flat against each other. the tapes and glues are meant to fill in any minor imperfections, but I've never found them to be helpful.
