The Danedyke Mystery When the organist of a small village church is knocked down by an unseen intruder, the peaceful new life of an ex-police inspector takes on an unsettling turn. Septimus Treloar, formerly of Scotland yard and now Rector of St Mary, Danedyke, soon finds himself embroiled with a pair of nasty characters; the bogus major, with his parcel of poisoned meat for the rector's dog, and Armchair, with a taste for grievous bodily harm. The pair are after the famous Danedyke cup - a solid gold chalice said to have belonged to the Virgin Mary. But the cup has been lost for 40 years, and the secret of its whereabouts is well hidden. Where is the cup? And can Septimus, aided by his trusty dog and the village infant school teacher, unravel the mystery and get to the treasure before the villains? Broadcast 3rd June 1979
