Baidu and Alibaba were speculative purchases. Both are down 72% from their highs as of today. BIDU high was Febuary of 2021 and BABA high was October of 2020. In my opinion, they are discounting the worse case situation of an invasion of Taiwan and are too low in valuation. These are speculative growth buys. The rhetoric coming out of China could get worse not better. The tension between the US and China could worsen. China position on Taiwan could worsen. If things do not get worse, I would expect a meaningful partial recovery.
