Brock Commons Residence Tour | Tallest Wood Building in the World | University of British Columbia 0:00 Brock Common's Main Floor 6:41 Studio Tour 13:46 18th Floor Ocean View and Study Lounge Welcome everyone this is my Brock Commons Room Tour. So for those of you who have watched my previous exchange tour video, you know that I actually lived there all of last year. The reason I moved was because I was subletting from someone else there and I received a year-round offer at Brock. Without further ado, this let's go inside. So straight behind me are the elevators which are perpetually broken somehow. To the left is actually a common area with a kitchen and fridge. I think I actually have card access, but due to COVID we're not really allowed to go inside. We can probably take a quick peek though. Also by the way, one of friend's who's residence advisor told me that there's bunch of rotten food in here which have literally been here since the opening of this building in 2017. Down this way is to a bunch of lockers and quiet study rooms which again aren't open due to COVID *(Cut to b-roll of lockers and quiet study room)* . The garbage disposal and recycling area is there as well. Anyhow, if you haven't noticed by now, we actually don't have a front lobby or front desk area at Brock. That's because we actually just use the front desk at Exchange (Cut to b-roll of Exchange front lobby). It's a little bit inconvienent, because if you forget you card key in your room or if you have any packages or mail, you've got to go to the Exchange building to get it, but for the most part, it's okay. With that being said, over to my left is our laundry room main floor lounge, so let's head over! So this is the study lounge. We have tables which are of course socially distanced. We also have a table tennis and games room in here as well, which again is closed due to COVID protocols. Along this side here there is actually a huge projector screen that comes down. Last term we actually had a screening of the NBA finals here, which is pretty sweet. But once again because of COVID this projector has not really been used much. So that is pretty much it for the main floor next up is my studio, which we will see now! (cut to studio when I snap my fingers) Actually I show this a bit more, inside we have a sink. One gripe I have with it is that it much lower than my sink at Exchange, so I pretty have much have to be bending down super low to wash my face. Then of course we have a pretty small square shower on the side. Okay so as this is my workspace area. Since COVID obvious I've spent the majority of my time here just typing and coding away. Most of the time I have both of my work and personal laptops going, one is running code while I'm watching a movie in the other screen for maximum productivity. I've got this super cool smart light which can connect to your wifi so that you can customize the temperature of the light between very white light for studying, and very warm orange light for night time . I can also customize the brightness. Unfortunately the school wifi is a public network, so it actually doesn't allow me to connect any of my smart devices, which is very unfortunate. As a result, I have to use the antiquated way of turning the knob instead of using my phone. The reason I originally go this light was because I could set an alarm essentially where my light slowly turns on, waking me up more naturally then the sudden alarm sound, but I can't really use it anymore which is a huge shame. In addition, my table is composed of some olay facial lotion. Okay so I don't really have a skin care routine. I've had this lotion since september and this is all I've used (open up the bottle). I'm barely half way through the bottle. I've also connected a 6 plug charging panel to be able to charge both my latptops, my ipad and my iphone. Okay so in the top area of my desk Also these are my sony xm4s, which have amazing noise cancellation. You just put these on and it pretty much gets rid of all the noise for when you want quiet studying. I also have these heart shaped oven mitts which also kind of double as a coaster for my mind. I also have this white board but I don't a dry erase marker but again I feel that it makes the room feel more productive. Finally, on the top area of my desk I also have my rubik's cube! Like Rich Brian, I spent much of junior high solving rubik's cubes instead of doing something more fun with my life. But I can still solve it! And I can make cool shapes like this flower, and this interesting tic tac toe type shape. 🌍 My website/blog - msha.ke/georgewangyu https://georgewangyu.me/ 📸 Instagram -   / georgewangyu     / gracewxng
