Blacksmithing : Forging a Leaf Wall Hook

I am sharing the process of hand forging a wall coat hook with a leaf end, using traditional methods of blacksmithing, side draft forge and stone coal. A piece of metal I used is 12mm round steel bar, approximately 19cm long. Blacksmithing techniques: drawing, bending, tapering, hot punching, shaping and texturing a leaf and forging a little scroll. To forge these hooks I used a rounding hammer for moving the metal, a heavier hammer for hot punching and cross pein hammer for leaf texturing and shaping. The tools are: anvil, rounding hammer, cross pein hammer, heavy hammer, blacksmith vise, bending fork, blacksmith's tongs, hot punch, wire brush.. You can use file / rasp for finishing as well. You can forge this clothes hook without a power hammer. Do experiment with the shape of the leaf as well as its bend to different sides to get a bunch of leaf hooks looking great together being a bit different from one another!
