Mount Mawson ski field is a small field located in the Mount Field National Park in southern Tasmania. The park is 1 hour drive west of Hobart and the drive up to the alpine section of the park is a further 30 minutes. From the car park at Lake Dobson, it is a 30 minute walk up to the ski area. Mount Mawson comprises of three surface tows. One is seldom operating as it needs a lot of snow (Rodway Tow). In late winter 2017 there was in fact too much snow so the tow wasnt't going so we hiked out there (its 1km or so past the two main tows at the mountain) and hiked runs all day. Top day out. Here's hoping for more successful trips to the snow.
