Canoe Camping Alone in the Adirondack Mountains

Join me on this 4 day solo canoe trip where I paddle and portage through the Adirondack wilderness. I really enjoyed my time alone on this summer canoe trip, hearing nothing more than the rain on my tent and the sounds of the loons. The views were breathtaking! This trip gave me the best of both worlds - the ability to both push myself and also relax and unwind. On Day 1, I got to Adirondack Park in the early afternoon and so I camped overnight on an access lake where I parked. I was lucky enough to wind up camping in an Adirondack leanto and made what turned out to be an amazing (and easy) camp meal on the fire - smoked queso dip! Day 2, I started a 3 day loop portaging and paddling a chain of lakes when a thunderstorm hit early in the day. I took shelter and hunkered down under a pine tree until it passed. Later in the day I set up base camp across from a beautiful mountain for nights 2 and 3. Day 3 was my favorite day of this canoe trip by far. I hiked a mountain and caught my first ever brook trout! Of course, the first fish I would catch in nearly 15 years would go completely bonkers... This trip had everything I wanted...both sunshine and thunderstorms, long portages, hiking, fishing, tent camping, camping in a lean-to, good camp food, and solitude. I love the Adirondacks!!
