In London the fear was crowded streets and jaywalkers. Manchester is a bit more open (less people). But honestly, the threat of someone opening your car door, ripping you out and nicking your wallet felt very real. That's part of the fun I guess. At stations, the overhead announcements specifically mentioned pick-pocketers and that you should be hyperaware of your shit being taken. What is this east Europe? The life of a tourist. My tip if you're worried about this is look around. Find someone that you would deem (local), study them, their actions, their speech and fake like you know what you're doing.
