As society increasingly relies on algorithms for decision-making, this conversation will explore the potential benefits and risks. The Girard-diCarlo Center will welcome Suresh Venkatasubramanian from Brown University to delve into how algorithms can enhance fairness and efficiency while examining the dangers of perpetuating biases and promoting fair and equitable decision-making. Professor Venkatasubramanian is the director of the Center for Technological Responsibility, Reimagination, and Redesign (CNTR) with the Data Science Institute at Brown University and is a professor of computer science and data science. He recently served as assistant director for science and justice in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, where he helped co-author the Blueprint for an AI Bill of Rights.
