Some major disclaimers:... This isn't as much an instructional video as it is a "this is how I do it, follow along at your own peril" video. My friend Lori mentioned to me that she was looking for a second Featherweight, one that had cosmetic issues, one that she didn't have to worry about when she took it traveling. I told her I would look through my collection of 221 machines. The result is this machine from 1938. I think it will fill the bill. In this video you'll see me use some tools and techniques that may raise quite a few eyebrows, such as electric impact drivers to loosen stuck fasteners. Suffice it to say, I know how to use the tools and am extremely careful. I am NOT advocating their use by inexperienced machine mechanics. You will also see me using stainless steel wire brushes (cup and straight) rto clean out internal components of the body of the machine. Once again, I have done this many, many times, and I have a lot of experience. Do not try to replicate this activity without proper safety equipment (eye protection) and don't do it fpr the first time on a machine you care about. If you want to try this, get a beater "parts machine" and experiment there first.
