Tucked away in a wild and lonely corner of Scotland, far from any road, Glenbeg Bothy is arguably Scotland's most remote bothy, requiring a long walk or cycle from any direction. In this video, join us on a fine hiking adventure to this secluded bothy in the middle of nowhere. 🗻 Mountain climbed: Beinn a'Chaisteil. 🏚 Bothy visited: Glenbeg (NM 313 834). Sadly the future of Glenbeg Bothy remains uncertain. In April 2012 the adjacent bothy, a white corrugated-iron hut affectionately known to hikers as "The Greenhouse", was destroyed by fire which resulted in an acrimonious dispute between Inverlael Estate and the Mountain Bothy Association (MBA), unable to reach an agreement, the MBA decided to pull out. Since then, Glenbeg Bothy has not been maintained, left vulnerable to the hostile environment. Research on the Internet threw up very few results of the current condition of the bothy, some vague reports suggested the roof was leaking and it was in a sorry state being only one bad storm away from a derelict state.
