General Visual Inspection (GVI) is essential for maintenance of heavy industry assets, like oil refineries, LNG facilities, power plants, cement factories, steel, pulp and paper mills. GVI can be done efficiently with drones, and this video explains two key functions of drone GVI: 1. Hi-Resolution Inspection Imagery: systematically inspecting the asset, using long range zoom cameras to fly safely with long distance from the structures, 2. Thermal (Thermographic) Imagery: thermal images captured at the same time are also able to help analyze the facilities, including: water-based issues like leak detection, and corrosion under insulation; as well as thermal analysis of operational facilities, with friction (heat) being used to detect bottlenecks and heat distribution irregularities across the structures.
