Burg Hohenzollern is one of our favorite castles in Germany. It is perched atop a hill, and has a glorious outlook over the valley. It was rebuilt several times, but only after the most recent rebuild did they discover the case mates- places the knights used for secret entrance to the castle, and where they hid in case of fire. It is argued that this shelter is just as protective if not more that most modern-day bomb shelters. One of our favorite rooms in the castle is the blue room, or the queen's salon. Be sure to also visit the treasury! There you will find lots of prizes, in addition to several cherished goblets with the castle molded onto the cup.
