My 2014 bmw 320i started misfiring while I was driving one day. I swapped the ignition coil on cylinder 3 and then it melted. I scanned the vehicle and found a P10E3 which is also a 1F0514 bmw code(valvetronic short circuit to earth). The Valvetronics harness port went bad on my dme causing my cylinder 3 ignition coil to short and melt. As far as diagnostics, I just figured it went bad from other peoples riddles on the forums. I went ahead and purchased a new dme on eBay for $60 and then found somebody on OfferUp to clone my original to do it for $250. The swap was super easy YOU CAN DO IT. I hope this helps somebody out there as I was completely stressed ready to dump my car. There isn’t much information on this stuff anywhere, I have been on all of the forums regarding the P10E3/1F0514 and nobody had ever replied claiming that this did in fact fix their vehicle. **im not running any tunes.
