About 13 months ago, I started this piece. I ran out of time to finish it for Memorial Day, 2023, but I’m happy to finally share it this year. The piece, “Valor and Sacrifice,” is the result of a lot of thought I’ve given over the years to the virtues exemplified by so many veterans over the years. There are countless stories of the bravery of soldiers in battle, and as many stories of their selfless sacrifice for their country, their kin, and those who went along with them to battle.
