Nene Valley Railway | A4 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' Easter Weekend - Good Friday 7th April 2023

#steam #SNGLT #blue A4 no.60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' returned to traffic in 2022 in a temporary LNER wartime black livery as no.4498. After starring in galas at the Severn Valley Railway and North Yorkshire Moors Railway she then ran a number of main line tours in the autumn and winter. Upon completion of her main line tour programme in December 2022 she returned to her base at Locomotive Services in Crewe for a full repaint into her traditional BR Blue and her first scheduled running turns were to be at the Nene Valley Railway over the Easter Weekend 7th-10th, and the following weekend 15th-16th April 2023. Despite having moved from Sussex to Hertfordshire some four and a half years ago I had yet to film at the Nene Valley Railway so 'Sir Nigel Gresley's' visit seemed the perfect opportunity to put that right! 'Sir Nigel Gresley' was running to the Nene Valley Railway's standard 'green' timetable of four round trips each day and I visited on the first day of running, Good Friday 7th April 2023. We start at Overton and the bridge west of Overton Station within Ferry Meadows Country Park. We see 'Sir Nigel Gresley' work away from the stop at Overton station and under the bridge heading for Wansford. Next its Overton station and we see 'Sir Nigel Gresley' pass through first towards Peterborough and then half an hour later back towards Wansford. Moving onto Wansford we see 'Sir Nigel Gresley' cross the River Nene heading for Peterborough, arrive back in the station and then cross the river once again heading once more for Peterborough. Finally its Orton Mere, and the final trip of the day from Peterborough to Wansford is seen pausing at the station before departing east. As always huge thanks to everyone involved in organising the event, the railway seemed very busy in lovely spring weather, I hope the event is a success for everyone involved!
