"This Charming Man" - The Smiths Bass & Drum Cover

*DISCLAIMER: I am teaching myself drums after 10 years playing bass - I have a lot to learn but am trying to improve and these vids are my way of keeping track of my progress, with this in mind, please be kind!** NOTE: I found isolated Guitar & Vocal tracks for this song, so basically it's just me and Moz & Johnny :) Andy Rourke's bass lines in The Smiths was what first got me into playing bass - he is a genius player, providing the perfect counterpoint to Johnny Marr's equally genius-tier guitar lines. "This Charming Man" was one of the first songs I NEEDED to learn on the bass, so it felt only natural to have a crack at the drum part too while I am now learning to play drums. I must admit I've been neglecting my bass playing over lockdown in favour of playing drums AND the action on the bass is like playing trampoline strings at the mo, so the bass part suffers slightly from me being a bit unfit bass-playing wise and also the extra work involved with dodgy action at the moment... but hopefully it's still bearable to listen to! The bass I am playing here is my lawsuit era 1982 Tokai Hardpuncher - it is a KILLER bass and one of my absolute favourites - strung with flat wounds here and played with a pick (which admittedly is not my strong suit - I usually play finger style and crikey it's tough playing with a pick!) in order to try and get an authentic Andy Rourke tone. (I think he used a 70's P/flats and a pick on this track!). Feedback and constructive criticisms always gratefully received! Thanks for watching :)
