Toronto Streetcar Documentary 1988 : The PCC Era , Toronto's Red Rockets TTC

#ttc #torontotransit #torontotransitcommission This video is a chronicle of 50 years of the Toronto Transit Commission TTC running PCC Streetcars in Toronto. PCC streetcars were first introduced to the TTC in Toronto in 1938. Multiple Unit operation began in 1949 and helped ease congestion as the subway was being built. Toronto once had the largest PCC streetcar fleet in North America. As the new Canadian Light Rail Vehicles CLRVs arrived, the PCC streetcar fleet was slowly retired from the TTC, until they were completly retired in December of 1995. This 60 minute video was produced by Ray Neison and GPS Video. Narrated by Mike Filey and Jack Knowles. Colour films were supplied by the TTC Archives, John Mills, Jim Borland, John Freyseng and Ralph Cantos.
