In this video you will learn all the science for this topic to get a grade 9 or A* in your science exams! Before the first cell division of meiosis, the DNA replicates. It forms two armed chromosomes. The chromosomes then line up in pairs down the middle. One of each two armed chromosomes then move to either side of the cell and the cells divide into two cells. Before the second cell division of meiosis, the two-armed line up down the middle of the cell, and the chromosomes are pulled apart to form one armed chromosomes. The two cells then divide to form four genetically different cells with one set of chromosomes. We call a cell with one set of chromosomes - haploid.
