Q-3: For a part plan of building 4 columns (each 30'' x 30'') are shown in Fig. 3. For each column the superimposed loads (DL & LL) (working) are shown in the fig. 3. The Columns will be supported on 20''dia cast in situ piles having an allowable pile capacity = 160 Kips. Pile shall be spaced 5 ft centers in both directions. Design combined pile cap for all columns and make neat sketches (Plan & Section etc) Given: f 'c = 4 Ksi , fy = 60 Ksi Self wt. of pile cap may be about 8% of the total super imposed load of the column.
