GOCHUJANG GLAZED TEMPEH (KOREAN TEMPEH RECIPE) | Frey and Maria

Hey guys, thank you for taking the time to watch our video! 💕 If you’re in need of a delicious plant-based meal this weekend, then try this #GochujangGlazedTempeh recipe! 😍 It looks beautiful, sticky and tasty. Have a go and enjoy! 😋 GOCHUJANG GLAZED TEMPEH ✨ 250 g organic tempeh, cubed 1 spring onion, cut on the bias 1 tbsp. gochujang hot pepper paste (adjust to the level of spice that you prefer) 1 tsp crushed ginger 2 tbsp. maple syrup 1/2 tsp chili flakes 1 tbsp. soy sauce 1 tbsp. crushed garlic 2 tbsp. cornstarch 1 tbsp. sesame seeds 1 tbsp. water 1 tbsp. raw sugar salt and pepper to taste *For the toppings (optional) chopped spring onion sesame seeds Method First, cut the tempeh into cubes. In a large bowl, pour boiling hot water over the tempeh and let it steam for 15-20 minutes. Prepare the Sauce: Combine the soy sauce, maple syrup, water, chili flakes, crushed ginger, crushed garlic and gochujang hot pepper paste. ​Mix it well and set aside. Drain the water from the tempeh and season with salt and pepper to taste. Gradually add the cornstarch and gently toss to evenly coat the tempeh. After that, bake it in the oven for 20 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius. In a non-stick pan, toast the sesame seeds for 2-3 minutes then add the raw sugar. As the sugar melts, add the baked tempeh and chopped spring onion. Give it a good stir. Pour the sauce mixture and add 1 tbsp. of water. Make sure that the tempeh is all covered up with the sauce. Transfer in a bowl and garnish with more chopped spring onions and sesame seeds. You can serve this with steamed rice or tortillas wraps. *Feel free to adjust the recipe measurements according to your preference.
