Melbourne Colonial Dancers held “A Golden Jubilee Ball” to celebrate their 50th year. The Ball was held at the Preston Town Hall, Preston, Melbourne, Australia on the 29th June 2024 The Musicians for the evening were: “The Melbourne Colonial Dancers Band” Featured on the Program was Walpole Cottage. A dance designed by Pat Shaw in 1963.It is 52 Bars and has its own signature tune. Dance Instructions are : WALPOLE COTTAGE 48Bars + 4 bars ad lib Pat Shaw 1963 Line of 3 facing a line of 3 around the hall 4 bars Intro each time thru the dance advance and retire 16 bars Centre persons strips the willow around the set beginning right arm to each other and pass to right hand person of opposit line 8 bars All end persons right hand then left hand stars 8 bars Centre person face right hand person Right shoulder Reel of three 4 Bars As lines of three advance and retire as circle 4 Bars Circle left half way 4 Bars Advance and retire reform lines 4 Bars Basket of three and open out facing in the same direction as at beginning.
