Connected Speech in English: Pronunciation Lesson: When we speak fast, we use what is called “connected speech,” which means we blend words together. One common pattern in connected speech in English is that we drop the h in the words he, him, her, and his. Examples: Let her in! = Let ‘er in! I know her = I know ‘er. I love him. = I love ‘im. Because we drop the h in these words, it can be hard to hear these words when we are speaking. But don’t worry! Keep practicing, and it will get easier. 🙋♀️🙋 Want to learn with me?
