Avadāna, the Traditions about the Bodhisattva First Gallery - Main Wall - Lower Register Borobudur Temple - Magelang - Indonesia The inner wall of the first gallery is divided into two sections: an upper register and a lower register. The upper register, titled the Lalitavistara, features 120 reliefs depicting the life of Gautama Buddha. However, the focus of the current video is on the lower register, which illustrates the stories from the Avadanas (Heroic Deeds) as narrated in the Divyavadana. Once again, identifying corresponding texts for the reliefs predominantly featured on this wall has proven challenging. The few identified ones are from Divyavadana collections, suggesting that the others may also come from yet unidentified Divyavadana collections.
