30% of patients aged over 60 suffer from cognitive impairment after surgery. These cognitive disorders result in a longer post-surgical recovery time, with increased hospital stays and associated costs. After onset of postoperative delirium or postoperative cognitive decline, most patients do not recover. PIPRA's AI-based approach focuses on prevention. The assessment allows to identify high-risk patients before the operation. In addition to reducing risk, it also allows the benefit of the intervention to be weighed up against the real likelihoods of adverse effects. A discussion between the physician, patient and relatives might find conservative management more appropriate than surgery.
