Webinar: Functional requirements for multi vendor multi terminal HVDC grids.

Broadcast live from CIGRE 2024: a 30-minute presentation on the latest conclusions from the InterOPERA project on functional frameworks which enable multi-vendor grids which are interoperable by design! Expandable, interoperable, multi-terminal, multi-vendor HVDC grids are the key to unlocking the full potential of offshore wind power. But how can we ensure that different subsystems will be able to work together as part of a greater grid system? Together with InterOPERA consortium members including TSOs and vendors, SuperGrid Institute led and coordinated the authorship of a series of guidelines on control and protection requirements for AC/DC converter stations and DC switching stations. These requirements at the DC point of connection were investigated and organised into three main categories: 🔸 Sequential control - allowing the HVDC system to execute planned reconfigurations 🔸 Continuous control – static and dynamic control requirements for AC/DC converter stations 🔸 DC grid protection requirements - including DC fault ride through profiles for converters and fault separation requirements An introduction is given by the work package leader Mario Ndreko from TenneT.
