In February, 1992, Pope John Paul II visited Conakry, the capital of the Republic of Guinea in West Africa after leaving Senegal and The Gambia. It was the pontiff’s eighth trip to Africa. Receiving the pontiff were President Lansana Conté and Archbishop of Conakry, Robert Sarah. The Guinean National Television produced a 54-minute documentary with the assistance of Louis Auguste Leroy. The Holy Father holds a meeting with the Moslem community and with Guinean youth. He visits a hospital where he blesses the blind and physically handicapped.
