How to Set, Bait, and Use a Tip-Up for Ice Fishing

A tip-up (also called an Ice Fishing Trap or Jack) is one of the most basic and fun ways to fish with live bait through the ice. Just bait your hook, drop it down, set the flag, and wait for it to pop up and signal a fish has taken the bait. FLAG! But for new or inexperienced ice anglers, you'll need to learn and understand what kind of line and hooks to use and how to 'sound the hole' with a weight to figure out how deep to lower your bait for the best chance of success.
