Join us for an eye-opening chat with trailblazing Kenyan filmmaker Lydia Matata as she dives into the raw realities of Kenya’s film industry. Hosted by Oluwaseun Babalola, founder of Kosinima, Inc. and creator of the KOSINIMA Short Film Grant, this conversation will explore Matata's latest short film about Nairobi’s emerging female biker culture and her journey navigating a male-dominated industry. Get inspired by two African powerhouse filmmakers sharing stories of resilience, innovation, and the fight to create spaces for Black femme voices in cinema. KOSINIMA is a nonprofit organization that supports Black storytellers through grants, mentorship, and creative initiatives that cultivate community. It celebrates global African identity and culture, notably through the KOSINIMA Short Film Grant, which funds Black women filmmakers in Africa and the diaspora. Other initiatives include the ṢOJU Documentary Series, which highlights African youth culture.
