Evolution of Deep Forest in Gran Turismo (1997 - 2022 / GT1 - GT7)

Gran Turismo 7 has been released and it brings back several of the iconic original tracks from the previous GT games. One of these tracks is Deep Forest. Here you can see a fast lap on Deep Forest with the Toyota Castrol Supra in every major GT game that included the track, showing the evolution of the track and the car throughout the history of the franchise. Timeline: 0:00 Gran Turismo 1 1:07 Gran Turismo 2 2:17 Gran Turismo 3 3:32 Gran Turismo 4 4:47 Gran Turismo 5 6:04 Gran Turismo 6 7:21 Gran Turismo 7 Deep Forest has been included in every numbered Gran Turismo game. It is one of only 3 tracks that appeared in 7 of the 8 major GT games, along with Trial Mountain and Laguna Seca. The track stayed more or less similar from GT1 to GT6. In GT4 it got the wide curb thing before the first tunnel but in GT5 and GT6 you get a penalty for using it. In GT7 the track got a big redesign. The very long left before the back straight got split into separate corners. The biggest change is the end though, with a completely new hairpin after the last tunnel. In previous games the real world location of completely fictional tracks was not specified but in GT7 it is revealed that Deep Forest is located in Switzerland. As you can see in the video GT1 and GT2 have pretty similar graphics, while GT5 and GT6 are very similar in both graphics and physics. GT7 looks pretty similar to GT Sport, although Deep Forest was not included in that game. However, the PS2 games GT3 and GT4 look completely different from each other, with GT3 probably being the most unique Gran Turismo game in terms of both graphics and physics. In each game I am using the featured version of the Castrol Supra, which is the '96 version in GT1, the championship-winning '97 version in GT5-GT7, the '99 version in GT2 and the '00 version in GT3 and GT4. I am using the softest race tires that are available in each game, no further upgrades or setup changes, no assists besides the standard ABS and automatic transmission. GT 1-4 were played on emulator, GT 5-6 on PS3 and GT7 on PS5. The units are set to miles in each game, since the NTSC versions of GT1-GT3 don't have a km setting and I want to keep the units consistent throughout the video. I have spent a lot of time on the track in each game to record the fastest and cleanest laps possible for this video, as you can probably tell from some of the lap counters. Hopefully people will appreciate the effort that I put into this video to make it as good as possible. :) Note: In GT7 the time trial for Deep Forest changes from sunny to cloudy over time, so I had to restart every few laps to show the best possible lighting. In total I did around 40 laps on the track. Also in my best lap my car was lacking 2 HP due to the oil not being perfect anymore, which I only noticed afterwards. Either way 1:25:x should be the best lap time that I can do though. I have also shared the replay of my fastest lap in GT7, so you can watch it ingame from different camera views if you can find it in the showcase area. Feel free to share the video with friends or in GT-related Discord servers if you enjoy it. Other YouTubers will probably make similar videos but I think that my version should be one of the best, so let's see if we can get it trending. It has been 18 months since one of my new videos reached more than 20k views and I finally want this period to end. What are your thoughts about Deep Forest, the Castrol Supra and the different Gran Turismo games? Feel free to share your feelings in the comments. I have also made the same video for High Speed Ring and Trial Mountain. Check out those two videos here:    • Evolution of High Speed Ring in Gran ...      • Evolution of Trial Mountain in Gran T...   If these videos do very well, then I would be happy to create them for tracks like Laguna Seca, Tsukuba, Fuji or Le Mans as well, which have also been featured in a lot of GT games.
