T.P. #9. Mavic Pro drone footage of a moving sailboat? Scary trying to land it back onboard!

Ep112 - In this episode of Cruising Off Duty, we continue our Transatlantic Sailing Passage series. We really wanted to get some epic drone footage of the Bluewater 50 Catamaran under sail in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Taking off and getting the footage was easy. I have hand caught the Mavic Pro many times on land and I figured that it wouldn't be that hard for me to pilot the drone to someone onboard who could hand catch it. Boy was I wrong. Between the downward sensors having to be turned off and the drone relying solely on the GPS to judge its height, the drone was going up and down a few feet at a time all on its own. The front sensors would sense the boat so it would not get close enough to hand catch so I had to fly it backward towards a moving boat and close enough to hand catch it all while the Mavic was moving up and down and the battery low warnings were flashing on my screen. As the battery was almost dead, I finally was able to successfully get it on board but not without having a few heart attacks along the way. It was by far the hardest flying I have ever had to do with my drone and on more than one occasion the drone almost hit something and would have flopped into the water and gone to a watery grave.
