The film starts its journey on the banks of the Ganges where the rare Gharial crocodile basks in the river and swallows the occasional bird. The river waters the plains and attracts millions of birds. Its source, high in the Himalayas, is where the holy men, the Sadhus, go to pray. The desert region of Rajasthan is a stronghold of Jainism, a Hindu offshoot with an extreme reverence for animals. The Jains wear scarves over their mouths to avoid accidentally swallowing insects and are vegetarian. Rajasthan has a temple where rats are worshipped and people eat the same food the rats eat. Many species of desert animal flourish in spite of meagre rainfall. East of the Rajasthan desert, tigers find enough water, prey and woodland. The temple elephants of Southern India are bedecked with flowers in the annual harvest festival as the people worship and feed them. On the Bay of Bengal, the Olive-Ridley turtles struggle up the beach, dig holes and lay eggs. Fifty days later, a million babies emerge and struggle to the sea. Many don't make it.
