Karnataka Assembly Election Result 2023: Counting of votes begins

The counting of votes for the Karnataka Assembly elections began on May 13. Polling was held across 58,545 polling stations to elect the members in the 224-seat Karnataka Assembly. The majority mark needed to form the government is 113. According to Election Commission, Karnataka recorded a 73.19 pc voter turnout in assembly elections. With over 73.19 pc polling, Karnataka recorded highest-ever voter turnout. As per exit polls, Congress is expected to have a clear edge in the state. Some exit polls have given Congress a full majority and some predicted a hung assembly. However, BJP leaders have denounced the exit polls, expressing confidence in retaining power with majority. Regional player JD(S) is expected to play a crucial role as third party, according to exit polls.
