Corey Maggette: He left Duke as a FRESHMAN and became one of THE BEST LA Clippers EVER | FPP

When you talk about the wing better wing scorers of the 2000s, Corey Maggette isn’t always one of the first names that comes to mind, but he spend nearly a decade with the Clippers quietly acting as one of the league’s more efficient and consistent scorers through his tough physical play which made him one of the best at drawing fouls. He spent one season at Duke playing with Elton Brand and Shane Battier on the ’99 Blue Devils who made it all the way to the National Championship. Then he would surprisingly declare for the NBA draft, where he would still be a first round pick. Then after spending his rookie season with the Orlando Magic, he was traded to the Los Angeles Clippers and for the next 8 seasons he was one of their best players, teaming with the likes of Lamar Odom, Darius Miles, Quentin Richardson, Andre Miller, Elton Brand and Sam Cassell among others, helping them to the second round of the playoffs in 2006. Then a couple years later, he was playing with Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry in Golden State. But after this, his playing time suffered immensely over his last few seasons spent with Brandon Jennings and the Milwaukee Bucks, then the historically bad 2011-12 Charlotte Bobcats, before wrapping up his career with a disappointing season in Detroit. Corey Maggette was an athletic freak who was built like a linebacker and used his size to get to the line at will, which is where a lot of his points came, but his game wasn’t always the most pretty and was overshadowed by the great wings of his era, leading to him slipping through the cracks of time, but for most of the 2000s, Corey Maggette was a tough out for anyone and good for an efficient 16-20 points every night. https://www.basketball-reference.com/...
