In this special episode, one key point I want to emphasize is that the relationship you experienced had to fall apart; it was essential for it to break. If you had to walk away, please do not feel guilty about it. The truth is, they pushed you to that point. They placed you exactly where you needed to be for your own healing and growth. The phase of discard is something I find particularly significant when dealing with a narcissist. This is the moment when you are compelled to confront the reality of what you have been living with. You are forced to recognize what you have been tolerating and what you have been enduring for far too long. Before encountering a narcissist, many of us were strong individuals. We possessed wisdom and an understanding of right and wrong. We might have faced challenges that made us vulnerable, but we were generally doing well in our lives. The only way a narcissist could infiltrate that life was through deception. Many of us had a gut feeling that something was off about the narcissist from the beginning. However, they worked extremely hard to gain our full attention and affection. They succeeded in capturing our hearts to the extent that we were willing to give everything we had, and many of us did just that. By the time the discard phase arrived, we found ourselves feeling empty, broken, and devoid of energy. We were left with the difficult task of figuring out how to rebuild our lives. To do this successfully, we needed to understand the concept of narcissism and what it entails. This knowledge has been one of the most enlightening pieces of information I have ever come across in my life. For a survivor of narcissistic abuse, realizing that they have been victimized is truly a life-altering experience. It places you exactly where you need to be for healing to begin. This realization allows you to release the weight of self-blame. You must understand that the only reason you were unable to stop the abuse is due to the overwhelming force with which they entered your life.
